Goal
11. Vladimir Manchev (CSKA)
CSKA won 1-0 against 'Lovech' in the return match of the quarter-finals of the tournament, but was eliminated from further participation.
The team from Lovech won the first match 3-0 and with an aggregate score of 3-1 continues to the semi-finals.
During the first half, CSKA players had possession of the ball more often, but struggled to reach shooting positions in front of goalkeeper Vutov.
The guests from Lovech tried to disrupt the game in the midfield and relied on Hristo Yovov's speed in attack.
The first serious goal-scoring opportunity was created by the team from Lovech. In the 15th minute, Yovov set up Zoran Jankovic with one touch, who shot directly at goalkeeper Ivaylo Ivanov from a good position on the right.
CSKA's attempts to score an early goal ended somewhere in front of the guests' penalty area.
However, in the 20th minute, Hristo Yanev received a long pass, controlled the ball on his chest at the penalty spot, but his skillful shot went wide of the left post.
Until the end of the half, there was almost no football played, and the 'Lovech' players used every opportunity to lie on the grass after a collision with an opposing player.
In the second half, the 'armymen' came out completely transformed and imposed total pressure in 'Lovech's' half.
In the 51st minute, Vladimir Manchev fired a powerful shot from the air into the junction of the crossbar and the post of Vutov's goal, and then Micho Vranješ shot a hand's breadth from the post from a direct free kick.
In the 61st minute, the hosts opened the scoring through Manchev, who lobbed the unreadily advancing goalkeeper Vutov with his head.
The goal gave the 'armymen' wings to seek two more goals to equalize the aggregate score, but the defense of
'Lovech' continued to play securely and did not allow new dangers in front of Vutov.
At the end of the match, CSKA's head coach Enrico Catuzzi played all out, bringing four pure strikers onto the field simultaneously. This did not bring the desired effect, and the 'reds' got bogged down in monotonous crosses, which were easily dealt with by the guests' defense.
