Complex „Cherveno zname“

Complex „Cherveno zname“ ("Red Banner") is a sports facility of CSKA Sports Club, located in the Geo Milev district of Sofia, in the area known as "4th Kilometer".

The complex was owned by DSO „Cherveno zname“ until its merger with CSKA at the end of 1963, when it became the property of CSKA. As of 1963, the complex featured a stadium with a capacity of 8,000 spectators. In 1985, the swimming complex was built, and later that same year it hosted the European Swimming Championships.

By 1988, the complex included an ice hockey rink with stands for 500 spectators, an indoor figure skating rink, an athletics track, a judo hall, a grass football pitch with stands for 1,000 spectators, a training football pitch, an indoor sports hall with seating for 500 spectators, an indoor air rifle shooting range, halls for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, handball courts, a medical center for the treatment and rehabilitation of athletes, a hotel with accommodation for 100 guests, and a restaurant.

As of 2010, the complex featured a grass football stadium with a single main stand, a small cinder football pitch, a volleyball hall, an administrative building, several auxiliary facilities, two outdoor swimming pools, a diving tower, an indoor Olympic-size swimming pool, an ice hockey rink, ski jumping ramps, a tennis court, a fitness center, a sauna, and a hotel. It was used by the FC CSKA's Academy, VC CSKA, and the swimming teams of United Sports Clubs CSKA.

The football stadium, the small football pitch, and the ice hockey rink were demolished in 2010 to make way for the construction of „Arena Sofia“. The swimming facilities were closed in 2012 and have since fallen into disrepair. At present, the only operational facility remaining from the complex is the „Vasil Simov“ Volleyball Hall. The complex is currently owned by the company „Serdika Sports Properties“, which is wholly owned by the Ministry of Sports.
